Yahoo! Player is a free media player that was once available to download and install. It has since been discontinued and this page serves as a reference for those who may still use it. You do not need to be a registered Yahoo! user to use Yahoo! Player.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- Yahoo! Player transmits information about your use of the Yahoo! Player to Yahoo! after each of your sessions. Such information may include the following: duration of session time; which "skins" were used; which radio categories and file types were played; number of times online and offline content was displayed in the digital browser window; the number of CD listings that were looked up and how many look-ups failed; the number of pages viewed using the "Now Playing" feature and the number of times links on such pages were clicked; the number of "presets" and "channel paks" used; the number of search pages viewed; and information about the settings in which Player was used (for example, the sizes of the windows displayed).
- Yahoo! does not associate information about your use of Yahoo! Player with personally identifiable information about you. However, Yahoo! does associate this usage information with a unique identifier number that allows us to distinguish between different Yahoo! Players running on different computers.
- Yahoo! Player transmits additional information to Yahoo! when you use the "Now Playing" feature. Such information may include the artist, album, title, year, file type, and genre of the songs for which you use the "Now Playing" feature. Yahoo! does not associate this information about your use of the "Now Playing" feature with personally identifiable information about you or any unique identifier number.
- Information about your use of Yahoo! Player that Yahoo! receives will be aggregated and will be used to plan future product enhancements. Yahoo! does not use non-aggregated information about your use of Yahoo! Player for any marketing purposes.
Information Sharing and Disclosure Practices
- Yahoo! may share aggregated usage data with affiliates, partners, prospective partners, and advertisers.
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
- You can choose whether or not to allow usage information to be sent to Yahoo! by editing your settings in the Edit|Preferences menu. You can edit your settings during installation or at any other time. This choice does not apply to information sent to Yahoo! concerning your use of the "Now Playing" feature. If you don't want information about your use of the "Now Playing" feature sent to Yahoo!, do not use the "Now Playing" feature.
