Yahoo! PayDirect <url: http://paydirect.yahoo.com > is a service that lets you send or receive money online to an account. You can send money using your credit card, ATM/check card or banking account. Your Yahoo! PayDirect account is maintained with HSBC Bank USA and all fund transfers are provided by the Bank.
In order to use PayDirect, you must be a registered Yahoo! user. You also must have a Security Key.
Information Collection and Use Practices
- Application and Notifications
- Your information, including your Social Security number which you must provide to use this service, is used to process your application for a Yahoo! PayDirect account.
- When you register for Yahoo! PayDirect, we may send you a letter at the billing address that you specify to confirm your physical mailing address.
- You will receive an email notifying you when money is sent to your account and when money is requested from your account.
- When you send money to someone, we ask you for the recipient's name and email address in order to send the email on your behalf.
- Some services offered through PayDirect require that you submit additional personal information.
- Credit and ATM/Check Cards
- To send funds from your credit card or ATM/check card account, you must provide your card number and certain other information related to your account.
- Automated Clearing House
- In order to use certain features enabled by Automated Clearing House, you must provide certain personal information such as your name, account number and name of your financial institution.
- To move money from your checking account or savings account to Yahoo! PayDirect you must provide personal information such as your name, address and telephone number, and the name, address, and phone number of your financial institution. We use this information as part of our verification process to confirm that you have authorized access to the accounts that you have added.
- Transaction Information
- HSBC and Yahoo! will maintain records of your transaction data.
Information Sharing and Disclosure Practices
- All information you provide or that is otherwise received when you use Yahoo! PayDirect may be shared between Yahoo! and HSBC.
- When you request or send money, or when you respond to a request for money, your name and the email address will be visible to the recipient. You also have the option of including your PayDirect verified address. By choosing this option, your verified address will be shared with the person that you specify.
- Yahoo! may share information in certain circumstances as described in our Privacy Policy <url: http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/paydirect/ >, such as when we believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Yahoo!'s terms of use, or is otherwise required by law. This includes sharing PayDirect transaction information with credit reporting agencies and with clearing house services for verification and risk management purposes.
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
- You can update your personal information at any time by editing your PayDirect Account Information.

Security Practices
- Your credit and ATM/check card information is protected using industry standard SSL technology (Secure Sockets Layer) and stored in an encrypted format, in order to help ensure your privacy. Secure pages are identified by a "lock" icon in the bottom corner of your browser.
- During the sign-up process, you'll be asked to select a Yahoo! Security Key. This is an additional layer of security used to access your sensitive wallet information on Yahoo!.
